My first trip to Puerto Penasco (Rocky point), Mexico was in February or March of 2003. It is actually the closest beach from Tucson. It is 170 miles southwest of Tucson. We stayed at the Mayan Palace 20 minutes southeast of Rocky Point. The hotel was nice and the beach and views were beautiful. The weather was a little chilly. I had some of the best Mexican food ever at the hotel.
