So when you think of Nashville, Tennessee, you probably don't think of the images that I posted here. Just be thankful that I didn't post the pictures of the Abilene airport that we had to spend the night in when our plane had mechanical difficulties.

Who knew they made a Parthenon in Nashville? I sure as heck didn't. It is downtown in the middle of a park. We didn't go inside, but it looked like there was a large banquet room.

We spent a few days in Nashville in June of 2006, before we visited my parents in Huntsville.

Of course, we just had to go to the zoo. It was a large spread out zoo with lot's of walking and few animals. It was really hot and humid that day (well for us anyway). They had a nice exhibit where you could let the birds perch on your hand and feed them. The birds were pretty lazy though and would only eat if they could perch on their branch.

Right outside the bird exhibit, there was the coolest hand washing station.

We went to the Opryland Hotel and were amazed. I always confused the Opryland Hotel with The Grand Ol' Opry and did not want to see country crap. The hotel is huge and actually charges $10 just to park. We had a few drinks at a bar that rotates about one revolution per hour. We were there for a couple of revolutions. The waterfall was inside right next to the bar.

There are 4 or 5 large areas that are just filled with plants, rocks and water.

OK, I lied, here is a picture of our broken airplane getting swapped out for a good one in Abilene, Texas on our return flight home. What fun.
