In April of 2005, some friends and I went camping in Box Canyon, which is north of Florence, Arizona.  We had to 4 wheel it to the camp site and it was probably 9 or 10pm by the time we set up camp.

The Canyon was amazing and definitely worth the drive. It is a good thing we stopped where we did. About a quarter mile farther, there was section that my truck would not have been able to get through.

When we woke up the next morning, the large body of green water was a nice sight, but the bugs weren't. We hiked around the rocks and took pictures. After breakfast, we left my truck at the site and went 4 wheeling to the coke ovens.

The coke ovens are huge beehives made out of clay that were used to reduce mesquite wood into a fuel that was used to smelt gold and silver ore from nearby mines.

When we got there, they were a number of people on ATVs. It was interesting seeing these large beehives out in the middle of nowhere, but not as interesting as the Apache helicopters that were training in the area.

There were 4 or 5 Army helicopters flying very low and putting on a nice show for us. It was just amazing seeing them fly so close to us. I didn't get many good shots of them, so I "borrowed" my friends pictures and posted them here.
